Contemplative Pioneership

Creating and Sustaining Competitiveness and Prominence in Academia and Industry

How do we set ourselves up for success in academia and industry? Planning, preparation, focus, and a willingness to work diligently are basic needs along with many supporting activities and behaviors. Going beyond simple success, long-term competitiveness and distinction are common aspirational goals we also desire, are held to, and strive for.

However, creating and sustaining competitiveness and prominence in academia and industry require traits and skills that are often subtle and difficult to measure, yet critically fundamental. Contemplative pioneership characterizes the foundational traits and skills needed. It describes a way of thinking and being that sets us up for eventually achieving sustained competitiveness and distinction in a field of study or practice.
